    All,
I received the email below from our NGO & Civil Society Center asking my help to disseminate news on an Asia-wide student essay competition. I'm afraid the posters haven't arrived yet, but given the deadline of 31 October, I would greatly appreciate your distributing this information and the website
    http://www.adb.org/AnnualMeeting/2007/Essay-Competition/
to any university students in your network.

While there are no cash prizes, I think it's a very good opportunity for students.
25 winners will be invited to ADB's next Annual Meeting in Kyoto in March 2007 to participate in the week-long Asian and Pacific Youth Forum on Sustainable Development, which will provide the winning essayists the chance to deliberate on issues such as economic growth, environmental conservation, human resource development, industry and infrastructure. The 25 winning essays will be assembled, published, and widely disseminated in order to amplify the voices of the regions students.

The 3 topics are noted below, and you'll note that the second one can deal with NGOs/civil society. For further information, please contact my assistant, Ms. Gong Bo (6642-6601 ext. 217), since I'll be out much of the next few days.

    Many thanks, and take care.
